Lesson 5: The Church In The New Testament

Jesus promised to build His Church (Matthew 16:18), which was established in Jerusalem on Pentecost (Acts 2). The Church is not a building but the people of God—His “Great Congregation.” Christ died for the Church, adds the saved to it, and it follows the apostles’ doctrine. The early Church was unified in faith, name, and practice. Denominations divide, but true unity comes from following the New Testament pattern for Christian worship and living.
